For men of traditions the discovery mode is not to be achieved or to be practiced. Only abandonment to curiosity and wonder--neither of which knows time as change--can energize those field forces which stimulate and attract quanta of intelligence. The mind possessed by enigma, to the exclusion of all expectations and hopes, will be in for sparks of the unexpected and unforeseen. The metamorphosis once underway, all nature seems to pitch in. The mind 'paralyzed' by the question is held suspended between yesterday and tomorrow. The whole of creation is strained to respond. The unknown begins to suggest contours of the unperceivable field. From every direction bits and pieces of intelligence float in, drawn as by unseen strands of 'force.' At first they seem random and unrelated. But soon enough they begin to interlock to fill in the unknown picture located by the field of question.
